Continued in my previous position under a new contract, with the addition of the integration of a new facility for enhanced processing of radioactive tank waste (Salt Waste Processing Facility).
- Led organization of auditors, Quality Engineers and subject matter experts to ensure effective compliance with nuclear QA requirements (NQA-1) through collaboration and negotiation with customer, suppliers and other site contractors. - Managed QA oversight program using systematic internal and external evaluations, audits and assessments. - Managed QA procurement activities by providing supplier evaluations to ensure suppliers provided goods and services in accordance with rigorous design, procurement and QA requirements. - Led organization in developing and refining a graded approach to quality through the application of appropriate QA requirements and design controls. - Managed staff of QA professionals in Identifying opportunities for process improvements through alignment with other site organizations, leveraging resources, and ensuring processes were appropriately documented and implemented for consistency.
- Managed the implementation of DOE programs and resources to ensure the transportation of DOE materials, particularly radioactive and other hazardous materials, substances and wastes, were shipped in a safe, secure and economical manner. - Managed the DOE transportation emergency preparedness program to ensure that federal, state, tribal and local responders have access to the plans, training and technical assistance necessary to safely, efficiently and effectively respond to transportation accidents involving DOE-owned radioactive materials. - Managed the national DOE Program for certification of Type A(F) and B packagings, special packagings and shipments of challenging radioactive materials and wastes, and served as the DOE Headquarters Certifying Official for certified packaging approvals.
