My job was part time to start with it was between the International Centre, and Argos in Shrewsbury, so i had to organize my shifts between the both jobs, but doing just nights at Argos wasnt to bad, that is whay there is a cross over in dates, because i went to International Centre full time and finished at Argos. My job at the international Centre was ensure security of the property, vehicles in respect of any damage or theft, and to safeguard all persons, customers and staff during working hours With being a casual my shift patterns were early morning starts, evenings, nights and weekends. I used to man the front gate ensuring that all visitors /customers were directed to the appropriate areas. I was responsible for collection for all the cash received at the gate, and safely depositing the cash to the safety deposit. Dealing with VIP guests and all other guests in a polite and courteous manner, and helping them in any way that i can . Also to assist in Traffic Management when required. To work with my team and when needed to evacu ation the building, do it as quickly and calmly as possible.
I was not in this job for very long, they are part of the International Centre, but after a couple of months i realised it was not for me, so that is when i went back to the International Centre as Security Team Leader. The job entailed setting up the build and breakdown of room and the productions internally nd externally for Stagecraft. To asssit the warehouse with picklists, Maintence deliveries, and generally keeping the place clean and tidy. Set up seating , staging, tables with in a certain timescale. I was responsible for all Health & Safety equipment, shoes, harnesses, and also the comumication radios and any damage to report it to the manager.
When working at Argos i was the night manager for the deliveries, which i also was the key holder for the property, i was very flexible in covering peoples shifts when sickness or holidays. I used to check the stock was correct and related to the paperwork received, then arrange the items to the relevant vans for delivery next day., and also deal with all the returns of items. Then scan the items and then a member of staff would put them on the correct shelving I treated my staff firmly, but fairly so as the job was done to policy procedure.
My job within Royal mail was to deliver letters, and parcels, some recorded delivery, you were out in all weathers, snow, rain, and very hot weathers, i did not mind i just did the job to my best of my ability. Dealing with cutomers on a daily basis. Most of the time it was on foot , but sometimes it was on a bike. awahen it was further a field i had use of the works van. I worked individual or as part of a team, when dealing the relevant postcodes to the areas. Over christmas time it was very busy and we had to work to strict time lines. I used the unload the pump truck to unload the large sacks of mail being delivered to the depot. I also made sure sure my work area was clean and organised at all times. I was a long time at this job but family commitments meant i had to leave the company.
This was my first job after leaving school. My main duties involved my working on the shop floor , replenishing the stock back onto the shelves. Ensuring deliveries were unloaded correctly and efficiently, Also working in the stock warehouse, sorting the stock. I mainly worked nights, but what contact I had with members of the public, I helped out with their requests pleasantly and professionally.
