About

I am a dedicated and forward-thinking educator with more than 20 years of experience across many aspects of student development and school life. In my role as a Pastoral Lead, I have consistently placed student welfare at the centre of my practice. I strongly advocate proactive approaches to mental health and wellbeing and have organised and delivered workshops for both students and staff to promote awareness, resilience, and a supportive school culture. Collaboration is central to my professional approach, and I value open communication and teamwork as key drivers of success within a school community. I have held leadership responsibilities in every school in which I have worked and bring a strong commitment to supporting students and colleagues alike. I strive to create engaging and inclusive learning environments for students of all abilities, combining enthusiasm, thoughtful planning, humour, and strong interpersonal skills. Throughout my career, I have embraced new pedagogical approaches and integrated emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning. I have built positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and leadership, and my dedication and professionalism have been widely recognised. I remain committed to professional development and actively follow developments in the IB and IGCSE programmes, alongside current research in child development and education. My teaching experience includes GCSE, IGCSE, A Level, IB, and third-level education. My professional interests include differentiation, inclusive practice, and the effective use of data to guide planning, instruction, and assessment. I am also a strong advocate of the “Teach Local, Think Global” philosophy, using local contexts and examples to deepen student engagement and understanding. I have supported and supervised Extended Essays on contemporary and emerging topics in Geography, drawing on my own strong research skills and enthusiasm for the subject. Continuous learning has been central to my career, and my educational philosophy is shaped by positive psychology, the development of character strengths, coaching approaches, and strategies that promote accessibility, inclusion, and student wellbeing. Outside the classroom, I have a lifelong passion for team sports, particularly Gaelic Games, which has reinforced my belief in teamwork, community, and shared responsibility.
