Williamston, Michigan, United States
Michigan’s aging population faces increasingly complex decisions related to health care and financial matters. In response, the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division has developed information resources including guides, fact sheets, and howto’s in order to assist in making complex decisions. Additionally, senior citizens are often the targets of unscrupulous scam artists. To protect yourself and your loved ones from these scams, you should understand what they are, what they look like, how they work, and what you can do to avoid them. The Senior Brigade program provides valuable information and resources to Michigan seniors and their families in a comprehensive, user-friendly format: • The Senior Brigade website, www.Mi.gov/seniorbrigade, provides links to a wide variety of state and federal resources that can benefit Michigan seniors as well as a comprehensive guide to consumer protection information. • The Senior Brigade website also maintains a unique calendar of state-wide community and recreational events of particular interest for seniors. The calendar is continuously updated so visitors can search for specific activity types and county locations of events. • The Senior Brigade educational outreach program consists of 40 - 45 minute live presentations highlighting specific situations and interests for seniors and caregivers. Subjects currently offered include (1) Home Repair and Equity Scams; (2) Identity Theft; (3) Investment Fraud; (4) Online Safety; (5) Phone and Mail Scams; and, (6) Residential Care Choices. We look forward to working together to keep Michigan seniors informed and safe. Thank you for your interest in the Senior Brigade program
