Calgary, Alberta, Canada
As Director of Learning & Engagement, I am responsible for overseeing all aspects of Calgary Opera’s public programs to broaden and deepen civic engagement, expand and diversify audiences, and activate and intensify experiences. I work with an incredible team to create a balanced array of mission-based events, activities, and programs for people from all walks of life. I also identify and evaluate audience- and community-development opportunities and provide guidance on civic implications of strategic shifts and strategic growth.
As a teaching artist, I created and delivered tailored opera discovery and music education programs in collaboration with local community organizations and schools. Projects included a cross-cultural song-sharing program for the Calgary Immigrant Women's Association, an intergenerational opera discovery program with LINKages, McDougall United Church, and Silvera for Seniors, and four newly commissioned musical stories by local artists for Storytime at the Opera in partnership with the Calgary Public Library.
