Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada
I am a part of the executive team for the Resource and Environmental Management Student Association at SFU. I provide REMSA with all the marketing and social media needs it requires, while enticing more people to join and understand REM.
As a Sales Associate at Artisan Gifts and Flowers, I am responsible for providing excellent customer service, that encourages repeat business. On the office side, I have better learned Shopify and Shopify POS, as well as refined the website for a streamlined user experience. My work also involves marketing the business, and using social media as a tool to promote the shop to the community. Additionally, I create beautiful floral arrangements for my customers preferences.
Campbell's Gold Honey Farm and Meadery was a versatile and unique co-op placement in Abbotsford, British Columbia. During my 3 weeks here, I worked lots in the honey production and packaging space at the farm, then spent some time working in the storefront. Several private events were hosted at the farm while I was there, where I had the opportunity to set up, work, then take down these events. I took every chance to learn about the science of bees and their relation to the environment, and met several fascinating individuals who had lots to share. This co-op placement ultimately helped me decide that I wanted to pursue post-secondary education in an environmental field, and continue to explore many of the skills I learned while at the farm.
Semiahmoo House Society was one of my two high school co-op placements, where I learned new skills and had the chance to explore a potential career path for me. During these three weeks, I worked with amazing people who have committed to ensuring adults with disabilities are fully valued and included in their community. I got to work alongside the community members doing activities such as crafts, swimming, and walking. Furthermore, I spent some time learning budgeting, communication and media, and general office tasks. My social skills developed greatly throughout this experience, and I had the chance to learn more about healthcare and well-being.
