Worked as a Bar Associate at J D Wetherspoon in a fast-paced customer service environment, handling high-pressure situations, maintaining professionalism during busy shifts, and communicating effectively within a large team, alongside working as a lifeguard at the Aquatics Centre while studying full-time at the University of Liverpool. Balancing multiple responsibilities strengthened my time management, resilience, adaptability, and ability to perform effectively under pressure, while developing strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
Worked as a Lifeguard at the Aquatics Centre alongside studying full-time at the University of Liverpool. The role required maintaining high levels of vigilance and responsibility, responding effectively under pressure, ensuring health and safety procedures were followed, assisting with pool set-ups and operational procedures, and communicating confidently with a wide range of people in a fast-paced environment. The role also involved safeguarding responsibilities and ongoing monthly training in CPR, first aid, emergency response, and safety procedures to maintain qualification standards.
I supported studies by advertising projects online and in-person across multiple universities to recruit participants. I conducted semi-structured interviews and assisted with data collection, ensuring accuracy and adherance to protocols. I completed training in participant confidentiality, informed consent and ethical data management.
I supported participant recruitment and scheduling for a Virtual Reality Driving Study through online and campus advertising. I guided participants through VR simulations, collecting behavioural and performance data as well as assisting with data analysis and contributed to summary reports for academic use.
Completed a two-week placement as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant within a primary school setting. I supported a child with autism during their transition from alternative provision into mainstream education in collaboration with the Bursting with Potential team. The role involved providing individualised emotional, behavioural, and educational support to help the child adjust to the classroom environment, develop confidence, and engage positively with learning and peer interactions.
I worked in a holiday club for children with learning difficulties and disabilities this involved supervising a team of playworkers and providing intimate care and engaging children in sensory activities. This experience furthered my understanding of cultural competence for diverse backgrounds and values when providing care and improved my interpersonal communication skills and empathy as it included using non-verbal cues etc. Makaton to ensure individuals understood me and felt comfortable in my company.
