Kamen Tall Architects focuses primarily on facade restorations in the five boroughs and on new construction in Westchester County. In New York City, I've worked with property owners and management companies on both rental and cooperative buildings. I've coordinated nearly every aspect of a $2 million restoration project in the Upper West Side for the past two years. I spent the past nine months on site, multiple times a week, indicating locations of deterioration from both suspended and supported scaffolds, observing the progress of the work, and collaborating with the contractor to handle unforeseen conditions.
Professional Medical Corp. provides durable medical equipment to residents throughout Western Washington. My role as the warehouse manager included responsibilities such as: purchasing, shipping, receiving, and ensuring compliance with state mandated health regulations for equipment rentals. My role as the in house graphic designer allowed me to create mailed advertisements, flyers, posters and banners for trade shows. Along with one of the premier salespersons of the company I attended multiple open houses where we met nursing staff, clients, and competing providers in the area.
Habitat for Humanity SKC works with local Architects to create affordable homes in Western Washington. As a large scale builder, HfH is working to integrate sustainable strategies on its constructions sites and in its developments. As the GreenTeam coordinator I collaborated with the construction manager, job foremen, and Vista volunteers to activate sustainable measures on the job sites. My responsibilities included: interviewing potential GreenTeam members, co-hosting design charettes, developing instruction manuals for sustainable construction methods, and visiting the job sites.
I worked with Professor Liz Riorden on administrational aspects of the Trojan archaeological site in Turkey. I evaluated the Theban Mapping Project as a model for a similar study at Troy, which could aid in developing the site for tourism while ensuring the preservation and continued exploration of the ruins. I translated existing paper drawings and images of the site's wayfinding and informational signs, written in German, to digital drawings for future use. I also updated the existing site plan, so that during the summer Liz and her other graduate assistants could have the most current information available for their schematic designs.
