As part of a team restructuring major parts of the HANA Database engine, I gathered knowledge of many core components, and quickly gained experience in analyzing and adapting complex architectures. Due to my open-mindedness and calm manner, I excelled at cross-team communication and therefore became the first contact for many colleaguesregarding MDC topics. My high capability of abstract, analytical thinking allowed me to quickly determine the root cause for a given failure, so that I soon became the main contact for quality assurance in my team, advising my team members as well as other colleagues in test development and performing initial analysis of internal and customer issues. With MDC becoming the default mode in HANA 2 SP1, I decided to look for new challenges, joining the Backup-Recovery team in January 2017. The new topic enables me to further expand my knowledge of different database operations. With the recent shift of our development process towards cloud deployment, I volunteered to explore the opportunities and challenges of the cloud infrastructure our colleagues in Palo Alto are building, and how our backup & recovery services can integrate into that infrastructure to provide a simple and seamless experience to the customer. By now, I am one of the key developers to drive the knowledge transfer of cloud development and operations in the HANA Platform team in Berlin.
