Greater Munich Metropolitan Area
I have 20 years’ experience in investigating almost every aspect of natural hazards, 6 years of which in New Zealand. A major component of my work has been impact assessment, both ex-ante and ex-post. The focus was on analysing the consequences from multiple hazards such as tsunami, wind, floods, earthquakes, or storm surges to improve community resilience. That included monitoring of evolving disasters and collection and analysis of disaster and emergency relevant data. The second major component has been disaster risk reduction with all its facets. The work ranged from improving risk management and enhancing community preparedness, to response and recovery, risk perception, awareness and public participation both with regard to natural hazards and climate change. Since September 2016 leading a team of Natural hazard experts and property treaty underwriters, with responsibility for the German, Austrian, Central and East European Market.
