As the voice of the association on safety, I ensure that ReMA’s safety message is conveyed to our members and other related parties. Responsible for partnering with OSHA to elevate the industry’s efforts and provide information and support related to current and recent regulation revision. Responsible for establishing the vision and developing all of ReMA’s safety programming efforts, including championing industry leadership and strategic direction for ReMA’s safety programs. Also contribute by partnering with volunteer leadership and staff to develop the needed tools, initiatives, programs, and training to assist members in developing their work force and safer workplaces.
Responsible to establish, implement, and maintain site Environmental, Health & Safety processes for approximately 28K Team Members and 70K daily guests visiting 2 theme parks, 1 water park and City Walk, in conformance with local regulation, Global EHS MODEL and individual Global EHS Standards. Directly provides day to day support and contribution for environmental, health, safety, and new and re-commissioning projects/events, live television and film production. Authority has been delegated to this role to act as the Health & Safety lead for negotiation, medical record keeping, DOT, document management, regulatory interface, and OSHA compliance for site. As well as, day to day direction of the Health & Safety Team, health & safety lead for site EHS Steering Committee and spokesperson for the environmental, health & safety matters to C Suite. Liaison and collaboration with Global EHS Leadership related to initiatives, standards, strategic planning, permits, and operating expectation. Provide technical input and direction on safety elements of risk assessment and reduction activities. Initiate and approve modifications, waivers, and deviations to Global EHS Standards and specifications pursuant to levels of authority.

Responsible to strategize, develop, and implement the Environmental, Health & Safety internal and external audit and inspection processes for UO and other UPR owned and operated sites as requested in accordance with regulation and international consensus standards. Responsibilities include management (including quality control) of documents and records, conformance with established EHS and assurance processes and practices, monitoring prescribed controls, communicating objectives, management of third party audit vendors, responding to emergent issues and effectively using a range of EHS tools and practices to aid the business to mitigate risk, reduce incidents and drive conformance in all areas of EHS. Partner with other teams within EHS to gain understanding and conformance with these elements
Lead teams of safety and medical professionals to successfully integrate EHS into the business through professional guidance and leadership, establishing that Universal Studios Hollywood is recognized as the EHS performance leader in the entertainment industry. Support safety awareness for approximately 9K employees and 34K daily guests, reducing injuries and driving safety culture, including the development and deployment of Covid-19 compliance strategies, events, live television and film production. Support risk management via task assessment, investigate incidents and deploy strategy for hazard mitigation. Successfully operate 4 onsite First Aid/Occ Health locations and workers compensation program pursuant to USH Health & Safety Policy and USH Injury and Illness Prevention Plan. Act as site liaison with state and federal agencies, such as CalOSHA and DOT. Design-review all project drawings in Auto CAD/Navisworks and collaborate with architects and contractors to safely build/inspect, install and build all new restaurants, rides, hotels and themed environments aligned with Cal OSHA regulations. Partner with general contractor, State and local authorities, architects and systems integrators for collaborative and successful installation of ride/show control, security, fire, AV, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, emergency medical and building management systems.
Lead teams to support USH IIPP and Health & Safety Policy by performing risk assessment and implement hazard mitigation strategies. Partner with general contractor, State and local authorities, architects and systems integrators for collaborative and successful installation of ride/show control, emergency medical and building management systems. Facilitate EHS awareness, ride access control and fall protection training to USH Team Members and site safety orientation for contractors. Inspect multiple construction sites pursuant to USH Contractor Safety Policy, partnering on prompt infraction correction with contractors. Act as liaison with state agencies.
Lead teams support safe business practices for daily operation of theme park venues/rides/attractions/shows and special events pursuant to Cal OSHA regulations, USH Health and Safety Policy and USH Injury and Illness Prevention Plan. Facilitate various safety training classes where required, including but not limited to, fall protection, ride access control and EHS awareness. Research program of record applications to replace current software with new and improved workflow, including Intelex, Captera and Velocity. Support production teams for safe operation of tv and film production, including commercials, live action, stunts and a variety of high-risk special effects.
Design, specify all building technical systems including BMS, security, lighting, audio, video, rigging, scenic automation systems. Provide production support for road shows, special events, television and film production, including commercials, conventions and touring companies. Oversee safety program for technical operations of venue, including crew training, safety awareness, annual performance evaluations, negotiation of collective bargaining agreement and employee recognition program. Systems include GrandMA lighting and video control, DiGiCo audio and TAIT Navigator controlling over 100 Gala Spiralifts, high speed, Serapid deck lifts and multiple, high grid speed winches for performer and scenic flying.
