Art for Life offers art tuition for people with a broad range of special needs. I held the position of Communications Officer. My short tenure was due to my move overseas and the role not being able to be fulfilled effectively online.
My role centered on engaging students through events and communications, while also contributing a student perspective to University of Canterbury initiatives. I honed my governance skills through active participation in executive and advisory board meetings for the organisation that had $22 million in assets and $12 million in revenue. Key achievements during my tenure: 1. Pioneered a weekly executive video update. 2. Initiated two new events tailored to Māori and Pasifika students. 3. Collaborated with the Events and Communications team to enhance executive merchandise, revamp the UCSA website, and promote UCSA elections. 4. Launched Safety Week, a series of campus safety activations, including Glow in the Dark Yoga, self-defence classes, and Coffee with a Cop. 5. Participated in reevaluating executive structures to maximize their potential and ensure student representation. 6. Collaborated with the University of Canterbury to gather student feedback for enhancing work-integrated learning and contributed to the development of a new university testamur.
I attend tri-weekly meetings where I propose ideas or present concerns regarding the wellbeing of UC students as well as give feedback on any initiatives.
