Mentor students through their university application, giving them tips and advice to ensure they put their best foot forward.
Personally coordinated and moderated over 18 events attended by students and staff from all faculties. Involved coming up with event ideas, liasing and finding speakers, logistics, marketing, and chairing events. Supported team members in turning their interests into events. Membership increased from 26 to over 340 people this year. Chaired two panel discussions; one on the future of sustainable food with 5 panellists and over 140 attendees; another on ethical decision making in healthcare with a vet, a medic and a legal academic.
Highlights from this fascinating project on making healthcare more sustainable include: - Building a database of key stakeholders in medical waste: within the UK, internationally and internally within the University of Edinburgh. - writing a comprehensive summary of historical policy developments relating to waste in healthcare settings and becoming a circular healthcare economy in Scotland, and the key organisations involved in this. - Being part of the Edinburgh Earth Initiative Show and Tell, showcasing the work done over the first 3 months of the project on building a stakeholder database. - Attending the Edinburgh Earth Initiative’s Earth Research & Impact Forum. - Attending The Plastic Pandemic: Rethinking Medical Device Innovation, Use and Disposal for a Circular Economy
