Overall mechanical lead for the Shell REDIIGreen project, a multi-billion euro sustainable fuels project in the Netherlands to provide sustainable aviation fuel and bio-diesel. Responsibilities and achievements: • Led and assured all mechanical and piping activities, overseeing an EPC mechanical/piping team of 150 people. • Developed and executed strategic plans to achieve project goals in the mechanical domain. • Accountable for technical quality assurance, with a focus on risk-based approaches aligned with project needs and various contract strategies. • Led complex design studies and initiatives, tailored to project needs. • Initiated design optimizations that directly contributed to cost reduction and efficient project execution. • Resolved disputes with EPC contractors, licensors, and suppliers through strong stakeholder management and persuasive influencing styles.
Shell Integrated Gas division for LNG projects (portfolio), focusing on LNG Regas terminals and Bio-LNG plants. • Oversaw mechanical design and assurance for LNG projects (gasification and liquefaction terminals) as well as design and construction of a BioLNG plant. • Initiated and led complex design studies, aligned with project risks. • Involved in an expert team for the development of new liquid hydrogen storage technologies. • Conducted various supplier audits for novel LNG storage solutions.
Mechanical Project Lead for the Shell Pernis HYCON revamp project. Project concerned the revamp of 8 (old) hydrocracker reactors, including the design of new reactor internals. Achievements and responsibilities: - Led mechanical design and technical project execution for the complex conversion of 8 existing hydrocracker plants in Pernis, Netherlands. Deep brownfield project, complex mechanical design. - Responsible for the new mechanical design of reactor internals, including calculations, fabrication strategy and activities, QA/QC and vendor inspections. - Established strong stakeholder management with relevant stakeholders, which was critical to the ultimate success of the project. - Provided critical input to demolition and installation activities, directly feeding into the overall turnaround planning (schedule and resourcing), while limiting risk exposure. - Provided various trainings to installation crews to align and prepare for installation and demolition activities. - Personally recognised by Shell management by means of a special recognition award for the project success.
Reality Technologies aims to make VR accessible for everyone, anywhere. We developed the foldable VR Square Mini, an affordable high quality VR viewer. Role involved, among other things, product design & development, production strategy & outsourcing, quality assurance and sales. Responsibilities and achievements: • Founded a Virtual Reality (VR) hardware start-up focused on producing VR headsets and developed a multi-year strategy and business model, both commercially and technically. • Responsible for product design, selection of manufacturing processes, customer and investor relations, as well as overall strategy and organization. • Selected and managed multiple suppliers and established a complete hardware production line in China. • Combined customer needs with technical innovations to develop new products.
Master thesis Mechanical Engineering on fracture mechanics. Project title: "Ductile fracture modeling of high strength pipeline steels to provide an improved understanding of the role of mechanical constraint". Project is a numerical assessment of the newly developed MIT fracture model for future use in the Oil&Gas industry.
Research title: "thermal control and rate of deposition system of chemical vapor deposition at atmospheric pressure". Responsible for the design and assembly of the CVD equipment, the programming of the control system and optimization of the process.
Worked as head engineer on the research and development of one of NARI’s Globe Award winning projects called the LanStove. Responsibilities included the design, testing and result verification of several parts of the LanStove and actual in-field application and testing of the product for further investigation.
