Stefan began his career in education as a Fairfax County Public Schools special education teacher prior to taking a position as a Violence Prevention specialist in the Office of Student Safety and Wellness. He then worked as the Program Manager in the nontraditional school program, Achievement, Integrity, and Maturity (AIM) before serving as assistant principal at Glasgow Middle School for 5 years. He has most recently accepted the position of Student Safety and Wellness, Coordinator Stefan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the State University of New York, Cortland, a Masters in Special Education from Virginia State University, and his administrative endorsement from George Mason University.
Responsibilities include the planning, managing, and coordinating program activities and personnel of a multifaceted functional activity for a section of an office, program service, or educational initiative. Leadership is exercised through designing, implementing, assessing, and revising a curriculum service or other educational program
Assists with the planning, assessment, instructional leadership, communication, community relations, and safety and administrative management required to manage the instructional and special programs, organization, and facilities of an assigned middle school (grades 6 or 7-8).
Plan, control, and direct overall activities for a program servicing approximately 30 students who have been excluded or expelled from traditional public schools due to serious violations of the student code of conduct. Scope of position includes: staff recruitment, development and evaluation of 10 faculty members; fiscal management, record administration, organization and maintenance; student discipline, program initiatives, team-building; shared decision making, promote school values, creation and maintenance of safe, respectful, and fair environment
Responsibilities include providing data driven and instruction through researched based strategies to children with mild to moderate disabilities, modifying the general education curriculum to meet the child’s individual needs and providing required remedial instruction.
