The main role of this job is to ensure the day to day operation of computers and POS systems runs smoothly and to quickly react to any issues that occur. I worked at Thriftify as a part of a 6 month internship. Thriftify was a solution to allow charity shops to sell donated books online at a fair price. On the development side of my internship i was required to create an Access Control system which gave different users changeable access to companies accounts depending on what the admin of a company account gave a user. This involved a lot of Database design and backend development on a java based web application using a tomcat server. Both server side and client side validation was also used to prevent any security issues. I also needed to develop the web pages that would allow users to create new users under a company account. The webpages used bootstrap, javascript, HTML and CSS other responsibilities included managing the amazon account, training new intern on the system, supervising volunteers who helped organise books and the postage of books
