Siraj leads a team in the dispute resolution practice at Silvester Legal LLC and heads its criminal defence practice; specializing in commercial litigation and criminal defence. Siraj has been recognized as one of Asian Legal Business’ Singapore’s Rising Stars 2023, and was also conferred the LexisNexis 40 under 40 2024 (Southeast Asia) Award and the LexisNexis Under 40 National Recognition 2023 Award. Silvester Legal LLC’s Criminal Defence practice, led by Siraj, was acknowledged by The Straits Times in its 2025, 2024 and 2023 list of Singapore's best law firms. To date, Siraj has acted as lead counsel representing close to 150 accused persons at the State Courts and Supreme Court for Penal Code and other regulatory offences (ex., CDSA, Computer Misuse & Cyber Security Act, Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and Companies Act) He has successfully secured conditional warnings, community-based sentences, and acquittals for serious property, violent and sexual offences (including money laundering, motor insurance fraud, rioting, causing grievous hurt and outrage of modesty amongst others) involving young and adult clients at both pre-and post-trial stages. Siraj also maintains a practice in civil and commercial litigation with successful lead counsel experience before the Singapore State Courts and Supreme Court in employment, investor and shareholder disputes as well as contractual, tortious and intellectual property infringement claims. Siraj participates in the work of the Singapore Law Society's Criminal Practice Committee as well as the Pro Bono SG’s Criminal Legal Aid Scheme Committee where he has headed sub-committees to recommend expanded coverage of criminal legal aid to a larger pool of offences and to prepare a curriculum to train volunteer lawyers engaged in pro bono criminal defence work. He is also a volunteer with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme through which he has provided pro bono representation.
As a CLAS Fellow, I worked full-time at the Pro Bono Services Office exclusively on Criminal Legal Aid Scheme cases, representing close to a 120 accused persons at the State Courts and Supreme Court. I have acted as lead counsel in Plead Guilty mentions, Magistrates Appeals and several State Court trials involving both Penal Code and non-Penal Code offences. I have secured conditional warnings, acquittals (both at the pre-trial and post-trial stage) and community-based sentences/probation for adult offenders who have committed serious offences (ex. CDSA, violent offences, sexual offences).
