Simon has spent the last four years working in Essex Supporting Basildon & Thurrock University Hospital Foundation Trust and Colchester Hospitals University Hospital Foundation Trust. But, from the 14th March 2017 will be leaving Essex to take up a new challenging role (assignment) at University Hospitals Birmingham, one of the highest performing NHS organisations in Europe with a proven international reputation for its quality of care, information technology, clinical education and training and research. UHB is a regional centre for cancer, has the second largest renal dialysis programme in the UK and has the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe. It also provides a series of highly specialist cardiac and liver services and is a major specialist centre for burns and plastic surgery.
Has Head of Programme Management I provided strategic and operational leadership and drove the delivery of change programmes/projects to enable the Trust to achieve service /quality improvements and a sustainable financial position. Leading the Trust’s efficiency and service improvement programmes across the organisation ensuring that the Trust delivers high quality services cost effectively and within budget. Primarily the key driver, spearheading a range of programmes relating to financial sustainability, including devising and implementing complex and challenging annual efficiency programmes. Ensuring i was deeply involved in improving the consistency, predictability and efficiency of the organisation programme management effectiveness and capability to improve performance. Providing leadership in best practice and highly customer-focused (outward and upward), to ensure that outcomes were consistent with customer expectations - "One Version of the Truth" With the role I was also tasked with ensuring the operational issues of the PMO were managed, focusing on the project interface with project leaders, project teams, technology and interface issues.
Supporting & redefining how the Trust conducts its commercial activities with its current supply chain to deliver maximum cost reduction benefits to the Trust. Whilst reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer, the role demands cross functional engagement from all services & departments. A key outcome of the role (excluding the savings targets) is to contribute to the development and coaching of the incumbent team from a transactional service to a strategic partner across the Trust; ensuring a sustainable value for money approach to all commercial activities.
Supporting both Social Care Directorates in the development of Best Practice Commissioning, Contracts & Procurement solutions that compliments & sustains the overall delivery and better outcomes for all local citizens. Also supporting with the Transition & transfer of Local Public Health Contracts to the Local Authority, in accordance with the DoH Transformation programme.
Leading the Transition of Public Contracts from the PCT into the Council. Also, assiting with other strategic commercial opprotunities across all services. Unfortunately, due to ill health I had to cease this assignment within the the first month
Supporting the Children's Services Directorate in the development of a Commissioning, Contracts & Procurement solutions that compliments & sustains the overall delivery and outcomes of the New Integrated Children's Services with Harrow
