Fourth Hospitality were working on a migration project moving all the systems from a VB6 and Classic ASP platform to one based on a .Net 4.0 Framework utilising C#.net and ASP.net. The company as grown largely through acquisition and the primary aim of this project is to bring all the systems onto a single platform with a unified user interface. The project is using Agile and Scrum methodologies. Initially, my main task was to restructure the development department, introducing a new team structure and managing the transition from primarily a support function into one of development and support. I introduced clear role definitions for team leaders, project manager and developers and implemented a competency framework to give those in the department clear responsibilities and an understanding of what level performance was expected of them and their teams. A key part of my role is the coaching and mentoring of team leaders and senior developers, giving them guidance, feedback and direction.
