I am currently a sophomore at UT Austin majoring in Psychology and Spanish on a pre-med track. At UT Austin, I am the Social Coordinator for Women in Medicine- a student organization that supports women in pursuit of healthcare careers. I currently have a contract job with Onsite Health Diagnostics as a phlebotomist, where I provide finger sticks to measure blood sugar and cholesterol levels. I have worked previously at Camp Balcones Springs as a summer camp counselor and lifeguard. I am very motivated and hard-working in school, and my goal is to eventually become a doctor. I am interested in learning about the different fields of medicine, doing research, and collaborating with people.
Last summer, I worked as a Summer Camp Counselor. Along with my co-counselor, I was in charge of seven girls of ages eight to nine. My responsibilities included problem-solving to reduce conflict between the girls, finding foods the picky-eaters would eat during meal times, making sure they were on top of their hygiene, and trying to make camp the best experience for them. It took a lot of work, but I learned valuable skills such as compromising, problem-solving, and patience.
