I am an experienced supplier oversight and governance manager and have created risk assessment models that I have tailored to meet the needs of the business whilst also reflecting the approach and strategy of the parent organisation. The companies that I have worked for are global in their outlook and I have had to ensure that the oversight models are adapted to constantly changing risk profiles across various jurisdictions. During my career I have led and delivered governance strategies designed to successfully communicate the full cycle of management of third party risks to a wide range of audiences including those with day-to-day involvement, through to Board level, members across each line of defence and those with a regulatory responsibility to oversee the company’s activities. To be successful I have had to manage teams that directly report into me and am widely regarded as a natural team leader. I enjoy supporting people and looking for opportunities to coach, train and build on their experiences. I have also had to manage very wide ranging stakeholder networks capable of providing the sort of subject-matter-expertise required to ensure the right results for customers and the company.

Conduct oversight of Delegates (Transfer Agency, Fund Accounting and Investment Management) appointed by the Management Company and other Third Party Service Providers for the various Fund ranges against SLAs and contractual requirements Oversee Third Party Service Providers processes and procedures to ensure Management Company compliance with regulations and business requirements Carry out reviews of SLAs and contractual requirements for the Third Party Service Providers Management and oversight of third parties to ensure costs remain within budget Oversight of projects and change management at Third Party Service Providers Manage and supervise the risks which exist in the business area, ensuring mechanisms are in place to identify, report, manage and mitigate risk within a defined Risk Appetite
This role provided an opportunity for me to deliver the frameworks and techniques I have built up during my career and transfer these to an exciting new business within asset finance. I am very pleased to have been able to deliver on the objectives listed below during my time here by applying a strategic mindset and having strong stakeholder management skills. - Established a full Governance Framework including the production of all Terms of Reference for a new Business Unit covering; Risk Management, Change, Product and Proposition, Financial Performance, Operational Oversight and Senior Management Committees. I also provided direction for routes of escalation to the Board and the existing governance framework in place within the wider division and ultimately to the Executive Committees of the company - Identified all operational risks within the business and created a bespoke assessment method to deliver a risk based approach to controls, mitigations and oversight. This was a first within the Division and praised highly by 2nd Line of Defence teams for the logic used and speed of delivery. This allowed the business to be challenged on the management and oversight of its risks - Integrated the requirements of critical policies to the Business including Risk Management and Oversight, Business Continuity, Corporate Governance, Breach and Incident Management and Third Party Risk Oversight - Supported the creation of the Target Operating Model for the business focussing on setting the strategy for risk oversight and control generation
My main responsibilities during my time here were to oversee a c.12 clients (and their third parties) in regards to their regulatory compliance, risk and conduct approaches on behalf of investors within their funds. This meant that I acted as the client’s point of contact for any matters or incidents which might adversely impact funds or investors and with the relevant third parties meaning I owned the compliance relationship for c.20 different companies. - Engaged with clients in relation to financial services regulations originating in the EU and UK and identifying associated risks and suggesting methods of managing those risks and carrying out eligibility assessments in relation to certain securities from vanilla equities to more complex OTC derivatives and structured products - Developed a Depositary Risk Based Approach to oversight which was a market differentiator in this part of the industry and continued to refine and develop client oversight processes Led the monitoring of clients and their third parties through both desk based and site visits which covered on-going due diligence, policy reviews, and compliance monitoring and presenting findings and recommendations to clients, senior stakeholders (up to Board levels) and Regulators - Reviewed fund documentation during client on boarding and on a periodic basis. This also included leading on the reviews and consultancy to Local Government Pension Schemes which were new to market - Provided support and guidance to the other members within the Risk and Compliance team when faced with challenging and complex questions arising from monitoring of clients
This role was responsible for the overall governance of an Authorised Corporate Director in line with Regulators and Company expectations while maintaining relationships with Trustees and Depositaries. It required working with a varied set of key stakeholders at all levels including; Compliance, Audit, Finance, Risk, Legal and Financial Advisors to deliver positive customer outcomes across all aspects of Fund Management - Implementing new legislation and regulation including AIFMD and UCITS IV and V - Developing processes and procedures to bring Oversight and Compliance activities back ‘in-house’ after being outsourced. This covered Investment Management, Transfer Agency, Fund Accounting and analysis of reportable and non reportable breaches escalating where necessary or taking appropriate actions to address any themes - Ownership of Fund KIIDs and c.20 Risk Policies ensuring these were accurate, up to date and signed off as set out in the wider governance structure - Chairing monthly Risk Committees and a member at several other governance committees internally and externally
I was responsible for the end-to-end monitoring of a range of investment products which included Collective Investment, Self Managed and Structured funds. This covered product creation and the support mechanisms required throughout the life of that product and the oversight and controls required e.g. redemption processes, bereavement processes, statement generation and complaints. I also produced a full Product Library to be able to evidence fair customer outcomes. I conducted analysis of UCITS IV, operational process amendments, changes to terms and conditions and reviewing FATCA legislation to asses the impact for investors. I was a subject matter expert on projects carrying potential risks to the business or customer experience and reporting on TCF and Conduct Risk for the Executive team.
I managed a team of between 25-35 people that was responsible for ensuring that required processes to administer client assets including; account opening, account closing, bereavement, account amendments and general customer support were created and followed within agreed Risk and Compliance frameworks of Regulators and the Group. As part of this I also managed smaller teams (which would come on to be a specialist team still under my leadership) to create and support new procedures for the launch of new products and a new operating platform. I conducted regular reviews with team members identifying any development support required or performance issues by assessing performance against clearly defined team and individual targets which also promoted the initiatives for continuous improvement to deliver financial and time savings ensuring these were made with the customer in mind. Other roles held gave me the responsibility for placing trades for equities, gilts, unit trusts, investment trusts and bonds with the stock market for retail and Private Banking customers of both RBS, Coutts and Portfolio Managers while holding the required FCA authorisation.
