As Supply Chain Project Manager at Lisheen Mine I am responsible for the strategic sourcing, tendering, contract award and contract management of a number of the operation's key contracts including, but not limited to, ocean freight, road freight, labour, insurance brokerage and material supply. I also act as the commercial representative on a number of the operation's major capital projects, the majority of which are civil engineering based.
As Materials Officer at Ryanair I was responsible for the procurement of consumable spares and the distribution of same across the airline's then number of 15 European bases. This involved the monitoring and management of stock levels across each of these bases, the internal distribution of stock amongst the bases, and the placement and co-ordination of purchase orders to support stock replenishment.
As a Senior Commercial Officer with BAE Systems I was primarily responsible for the price estimation of, and supporting the price negotiation for major packages of work in the military aircraft sector. This involved co-ordination and negotiation of sub-contract prices and quantifying the level of internal labour required to deliver said work packages. The practical knowledge gained during my four year craft apprentership with the company proved invaluable in support of this role allowing me to apply this first hand knowledge of complex manufacturing and mechanical engineering principles in a commercial environment.
