In one form or another I have been involved in roles of shipping for the majority of my professional career from working offshore as a Navigation Officer on commercial ships and private pleasure vessels to working back ashore where my focus now lies in Logistics managerial roles. Both roles have demanded fast pace thinking processes to solve problems in busy operating environments. I have been fortunate enough in all of these positions to learn a great deal about people management, safe movement of goods, legal and structured objectives of the job at hand and the international requirements of conventions from global standard setting authorities. Ironically I now stay put and it’s the cargo that moves!
