The single most important thing I’ve learned in my 20+ years in architectural practice is that good design is indivisible. Working collaboratively right from the start is the best way to deliver successful outcomes for our clients. I’m especially proud of our work on three high profile hotel properties in Newcastle, all of which have won awards – Sleeperz, Motel One and the iconic Premier Inn which was converted from a heritage art deco department store. My team has also been recognized for designing housing developments with a sense of community built right in. This pride of place is especially important in the numerous extra care residential projects we design and masterplans we propose. We work hard to bring something different to every project so that each one has a clear identity.
I am keenly aware that what we design impacts not only where people live but how. I am committed to creating places that are a joy to visit and a pleasure to live in.
Of the numerous and varied projects I worked on, the Harrogate International Centre stands out for me. I fulfilled their sustainability priorities by creating the largest green roof and CHP engine in Yorkshire at the time.
