As part of the Amgen Scholars Program, a global initiative by the Amgen Foundation that connects undergraduate students with world-class research institutions, I conducted a summer research project at Karolinska Institutet in Chambers lab. I investigated the expression of Junctional Adhesion Molecule-Like (JAML) across T cell subsets. Using spectral flow cytometry, I analyzed JAML expression in healthy donor PBMCs following TCR activation as well as in immune cells isolated from human sino-nasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC), contributing to the understanding of JAML as a potential immunotherapy target.
In the Clemons Lab, I investigated the role of SMAD4 loss in oesophageal adenocarcinoma (OAC), aiming to better understand its impact on tumour biology and progression. My work involved techniques such as cell culture, CRISPR editing, qPCR, Western blotting, immunofluorescence, and drug sensitivity assays, providing both mechanistic insights and technical training in cancer biology.
