I’m a Medical Doctor specialized in clinical psychiatry psychotherapy and mindfulness meditation. Since my return to Brazil, after finishing my Ph.D. in Schizophrenia, I have mainly worked as a clinician, in addition to some degree of academic/scientific activities. I have a sound experience in developing research in the field and treating psychiatric patients (particularly within the fields of psychoses, depression, and stress). My interest in further developments within this field is driven by clinical and research experience, indicating that important gaps remains to be filled in understanding and proposing new therapeutic tools for the major psychiatric diseases, with the aim of bringing better quality of life and less burden for patients, their relatives and society. In parallel to essentially biological processes, I am also interested in more subtle manifestations of consciousness phenomena underpinning mental and physical manifestations, which are reflected in behaviour and can be studied with the help of modern scientific tools, nevertheless may not yet be contemplated within conventional medicine thinking (systems description, diagnosis, and treatment).
