Florence, Tuscany, Italy
Experience culture. Broaden your horizons | Individually accompanied. Exceptionally guided I am a self-employed art historian and cultural scientist, living in Florence since already two decades. In 2016 I started to combine the knowledge of my academic education, professional experience and my profound knowledge of the Tuscan territory, acquired over many years, in the project "Ad Vivum | Florence Tours Tuscany Experience". My services include customized city tours (Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa, Lucca) as well as guided visits to the respective churches, museums, archaeological sites, food & wine tours etc. I accompany study trips, develop and realize visit programs for art associations, societies and incentive trips, for individual visitors as well as for groups, families with children and school classes. "For me, art history is inconceivable without social history. Art production, urban development, economy, science and politics, food, fashion, physical history and social welfare, all this and much more belongs indissolubly together. There is no more exciting environment for me than Tuscany to get to the bottom of this interconnectedness, and no more motivating challenge than to take my counterparts on this historical journey." My deep passion for Italian art and cultural history already shaped my studies and ultimately many years of academic work at various research institutions (including Florence, Max Planck Institute for Art History) and museums both north of the Alps (including Dresden, Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister; Cologne, Wallraf-Richartz-Museum) and south of the Alps (including Rome, Casa di Goethe). In addition to my work in cultural and exhibition management, my enthusiasm for art education grew constantely. After stays in Bremen, Florence, Dortmund, Urbino, Cologne, Dresden and others, I returned to Tuscany in 2001, where I am now working as an independent art historian, lecturer and state-licensed city guide.
