Howdy! My name is Sierra Rodriguez, and I am a political organizer and communicator driven by a belief in the power of young people to shape our democracy. I began my organizing journey in Texas working on Beto O’Rourke’s 2022 gubernatorial campaign, where I built a volunteer base of more than 500 students committed to voter engagement. That early experience confirmed what I had always believed: persistence and storytelling can transform politics from the ground up. Since then, I have organized across congressional and statewide races in Colorado, including serving as Regional Organizing Director for the Colorado Democratic Party and most recently helping launch the finance program as Call Time Manager before stepping into my current role as Statewide Lead Organizer with Julie for U.S. Senate. Beyond campaigns, I am proud to have served as a Young Advocate and now a member of the National Youth Advisory Board with Young Invincibles, where I have helped lead advocacy for the Colorado Voting Rights Act and supported students in navigating the legislative process. I am currently pursuing my master’s in Media and Public Engagement at CU Boulder, where my work focuses on building accessible digital tools and messaging resources for Democratic candidates. I am committed to lowering barriers to participation and creating pathways for young people and women to lead in our movement.
Role & Scope Position: 2025 & 2026 Lobby Lead & Civic Engagement Organizer supporting the Colorado Voting Rights Act (COVRA) Organizations: Young Invincibles & Common Cause Colorado Advocacy Leadership Coalition Strategy: Served as a lobby lead for Common Cause Colorado, directing strategy and advocacy efforts to advance COVRA through the state legislature. Legislative Engagement: Led the Young Invincibles civic engagement lobby team, facilitating direct meetings with legislators and staff to secure support for voting rights protections. Media & Messaging Op-Ed Campaigns: Authored an op-ed published in the Denver Post advocating for COVRA, managing drafting, editing, and placement in collaboration with media partners. Narrative Strategy: Developed and executed storytelling strategies to elevate constituent voices in support of the bill during committee hearings and advocacy days.
Program Leadership Fellowship Coordination: Directed a student program of 35+ fellows, managing onboarding, logistics, and engagement to build a strong foundation for field operations. Volunteer Mobilization: Oversaw the completion of 57 shifts in under two months, ensuring fellows and volunteers were effectively trained and supported in their campaign roles. Field Operations Voter Contact Strategy: Built and executed field operations that knocked on 950+ doors, achieved an 18% contact rate, and made nearly 1,000 volunteer recruitment calls to expand campaign reach. Canvass Oversight: Expanded responsibilities to include canvass recruitment, turf cutting, logistics, and weekly meetings that strengthened volunteer participation and streamlined campaign workflow. Training & Innovation Resource Development: Created a portable MiniVAN training resource used across campaign events, improving efficiency and accessibility of voter contact tools for staff and volunteers.
Program Leadership Youth Engagement: Directed water sports and nature-based activities for an average of 25 youth per week, including canoeing, SUP, kayaking, and swimming, while fostering a safe, inclusive, and fun camp environment. Staff Coordination: Managed daily camp operations for 35+ hours weekly, training and supporting staff in group management, leadership, and behavior support strategies. Community & Family Relations Parent Communication: Built positive relationships with families, addressing concerns with solution-focused strategies and ensuring clear communication throughout the program. Inclusive Programming: Implemented support systems and accommodations to create welcoming environments for participants of all abilities, modeling inclusive practices for staff and volunteers. Safety & Operations Risk Management: Ensured participant and staff safety by assessing conditions, administering first aid, and coordinating emergency responses when necessary. Program Oversight: Maintained compliance with state licensing and public health policies, managed equipment use, and utilized digital systems to oversee camper documentation. Team Management Team Composition: Managed 5 field organizers, 4 community engagement interns, and 4 Democracy Summer Fellows. Volunteer Engagement & Outreach Calls & Canvassing: Directed over 50,000 targeted recruitment calls and 12,500 door attempts, resulting in over 100,000 doors knocked, 87.5% by volunteers. Volunteer Recruitment & Retention: Recruited 1,183 volunteers, with 450+ returning for multiple shifts. Campus & Youth Engagement: Acted as liaison for youth groups and college campuses, recruiting over 60 campus volunteers. Digital & Event Coordination Digital Campaigns: Directed Mobilize strategies, achieving 1,050 sign-up conversions, with 25% of users signing up for shifts. Event Planning: Coordinated promotional efforts leading to 679 sign-ups; facilitated major events with Rep. Pettersen (CO-07), Elliot Hood (CU Regent), & Jillaire McMillan (CO HD 19), engaging 200+ canvassers.
