Lexington, Kentucky, United States
Growing up in both the rural East and urban Central Kentucky created an unusual amalgam of experiences that have molded me into the person I am today. The lack of access to healthcare and educational resources in rural areas in an issue that I am deeply passionate about and would love to explore further in my undergraduate career. I have served many leadership roles throughout the past few years and I am eager to continue to do so at the University of Kentucky. I attended Paul Laurence Dunbar High School in Lexington, Kentucky graduation in May 2024 as a member of the Math Science and Technology Center magnet program. I was an active member of the PLD Student council with my most recent position being senior class president. Through student council I was able to get involved with and act as chair for the PLD DanceBlue mini marathon. In my time there we were able to raise $100,000+ for pediatric cancer research and the DanceBlue clinic at the Kentucky Children's Hospital. Through my role as the president of the Student Technology Leadership Program I coordinated an annual Stuff the Ambulance Toy Drive in collaboration with Kentucky Children's Hospital and we were able to donate 1000+ toys. At the University of Kentucky I am excited to continue these endeavors through my involvement as a Phi Mu Philanthropy Assistant as we focus our philanthropic efforts toward the Kentucky Children's Hospital, a Children's Miracle Network Hospital! These experiences have acted as a foundation for the skills I have developed and practice today. They have shaped me to become a person strengthened by learned communication, organization, and determination.
