🌱 Sustainability Researcher & Community Practitioner | PhD Candidate at UNBC | Systems Thinking, Engagement & Environmental Change As a PhD candidate in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), I am exploring sustainability as a relational practice within complex social and ecological systems. My work sits at the intersection of sustainability, community engagement, communication, and systems change, with a particular interest in how people, organizations, and communities navigate environmental transition together. My background is interdisciplinary and grounded in both research and practice. Over the years I have worked across conservation, tourism, agriculture, literacy, community development, research, and non-profit sectors in Southern Africa, Jamaica, the UK, and Canada. These experiences have shaped a broad, place-based understanding of sustainability and strengthened my ability to work across cultures, disciplines, and perspectives. Alongside my academic work, I have contributed to interdisciplinary environmental and community health research, supported regional agriculture and sustainability initiatives in rural northern British Columbia, facilitated workshops and stakeholder engagement processes, coordinated projects, and worked collaboratively with community organizations, researchers, and local partners. My work often involves translating complex ideas into accessible communication, identifying connections across systems, and helping bring people together around shared challenges and opportunities. I am particularly interested in sustainability transitions, climate adaptation, rural and remote resilience, environmental stewardship, and the social dimensions of ecological change. I value thoughtful, grounded approaches that recognize complexity, support long-term ecological and community wellbeing, and create space for collaboration across different ways of knowing. At the heart of my work is a belief that meaningful change happens through relationships, learning, and practical action. I am motivated by opportunities to contribute to interdisciplinary teams, support community-centred initiatives, and help develop approaches that are both environmentally and socially sustainable.
