Sheila Warren is a globally recognized technology, policy, and strategy expert who serves as a Board member and strategic advisor across the tech and civil society sectors. She has dedicated her career to demystifying new technologies, from digital assets to AI to quantum, to ensure that they are accessible to everyone. Over the past 25 years, her mission has remained constant across the legal, tech, and policy fields: ensuring that the next generation of global financial and social infrastructure is built on a foundation of integrity, democracy, and ethics. Sheila is currently Chair of the Advanced AI Society, stewarding Proof of Control, a standard for verifiable AI. Previously, she served as the CEO of Project Liberty Institute and the Chief Strategy & Operations Officer of Project Liberty, focusing on AI and social media. Prior, she was the founding CEO of the Crypto Council for Innovation, the premier global alliance advancing responsible crypto innovation worldwide. She co-hosted “Money Reimagined,” a popular podcast on the Coindesk network, from 2020-2024, and she is an early stage investor across the ethical tech ecosystem. Prior to CCI, Sheila founded the blockchain and digital assets team at the World Economic Forum and served on its Executive Committee. She then became the Head of the Forum's SF office and the Deputy Global Head of the Forum's Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, where she oversaw strategy across 16 countries to advance the adoption of new technologies, including AI, XR, and data, in the global public interest. Before that, Sheila spent over a decade in civic tech, including as an attorney, entrepreneur, product head, and TechSoup senior executive. She was the founding Executive Director of civic tech platform NGOsource. Sheila’s career began at Cravath, Swaine & Moore after earning her J.D. at Harvard Law School and A.B. in Economics, magna cum laude, from Harvard College. She has testified in front of Congress and state legislatures, advised governments around the world, and frequently comments in print, pod, and television, with appearances in Bloomberg, CNBC (Squawk), PBS, NPR, FT, NYT, NYSE, the Washington Post, Politico, Yahoo Finance, Roll Call, Morning Brew, and others. She has been named to Top 100 lists in digital finance and/or tech for good every year since 2018. She has given keynotes on five continents, lectured at Wharton, Stanford, Cal, and Oxford, and was named one of the Most Powerful Women in Washington by Washingtonian Magazine and appointed by the Chamber of Commerce to the C100.
