I'm a Senior Electrical Engineer with 20+ years experience in Hardware and Embedded Software Design. My primary focus has been on Hardware Solutions in the Industrial Automation & Control space. I bring a wealth of experience in the design of printed circuit boards and embedded processing. My design ability ranges from small battery powered devices to VME cards to High Voltage IGBT Interfaces. My breadth of experience covers design definition, schematic entry, simulation, layout, prototype release, embedded software development, FPGA Design, manufacturing, test, production release and obsolescence management. My designs have been instrumental in the success of the gas and steam turbines that have been sold by my previous employer. My highest running design, at over 60k per year, is the remote processing engine and Ethernet backbone of the Mark VIe Control System.
• Responsible for constraint driven hierarchical design, documentation, assembly, testing, and production release of NTI and NPI hardware for the Mark VIe Turbine Control System with Simplex, Dual, TMR, & SIL 3 implementations. • Compliance: Experience with UL, ATEX, Hazardous Locations (HAZLOC), SIL Safety Systems (IEC 61508). • Reliability/Test: Bellcore Analysis, HALT (temp/vibe) testing, HASS, environmental testing, EMI/EMC testing. • DMP: Managed component obsolescence and substitution to maintain manufacturability and drive out DMP cost. Estimated savings of ~$100k annually. • PTS – Developed Part Tracking System using MSSQL database, Barcode Scanners, Labels, and web interface for tracking engineering SMT material. • Set up and managed remote VPS server for MS TFS, Intranet, and License server. Developed on demand content/tools using IIS/Perl/CGI and multiple databases for report generation and tools which led to increased overall department efficiency.
