Establishing talent-first organizations

About

I am a Human Resources leader with a decade of experience across talent acquisition, talent development, and organizational effectiveness. I focus on building products, systems, and teams that help companies compete for top talent, develop exceptional leaders, and scale with rigour and pace. My work centres on building the governance, workflows, and operating foundations required to support high-growth companies. More recently, I am particularly interested in the future of work, including the role of AI and people technologies in shaping how organizations operate. I do my best work when I can remove friction for leaders, help teams operate effectively, and have a meaningful impact on individuals and their careers. My colleagues tell me that I approach my work with a steady presence under pressure, strong curiosity and perspective across contexts, and an ability to adapt quickly in environments where priorities and conditions are constantly evolving.

In 2021, I was referred to join Wealthsimple, drawn to the rare opportunity to work at a Canadian, high-growth, consumer-focused company. I joined when the company was approximately 400 employees (now 2,000) and entering a period of rapid expansion. Over time, I helped build several core R&D functions, including Fraud and Credit Data, Information Security, and Platform Engineering, while supporting hiring across Product, Design, Engineering, and G&A. As my scope expanded, I progressed into increasingly senior leadership roles. I managed a team of up to 10 spanning leads, senior ICs, sourcers, and coordinators, while also standing up and scaling our early talent recruitment function. Today, I advise our 400-person Client Experience oganization on people initiatives, focused on scaling a market-leading customer service model through a combination of human and agentic workforce strategies, with an emphasis on quality, efficiency, and cost discipline.

I missed home - I returned to Toronto in 2019 to join Korn Ferry, the global leader in executive search. As part of the North American Technology Officers Practice, I focused on retained search within the Technology domain, partnering with experienced Client Partners on complex, senior-level mandates. I worked on Director to C-suite searches across Canada and the US and developed a specialism within Infrastructure and Information Security, with experience spanning retail, government, higher education, and financial services, while regularly contributing to business development efforts across mandates. This experience sharpened my ability to deliver on difficult hiring requirements and my judgment in evaluating senior leaders and understanding what drives impact at the executive level.

  • Founding Account Executive at EngageRocket
    Jan 2018 - Jan 2019 · 1 yr 1 mo

After recruiting for many startups, I decided to experience it firsthand. In my final year in Singapore, I joined EngageRocket as a founding sales hire, reporting directly to the CEO when the team was about 15 people. I worked closely with Product, Design, and Engineering to translate customer feedback into product direction, gaining firsthand exposure to employee listening technologies. This experience clarified my preference for operating in post–product-market-fit environments focused on scaling.

After my exchange, I took a one-way ticket to Singapore. What was meant to be a one-year experience became four, and a defining chapter in my early career. I joined Ambition in Singapore through its Graduate Program and helped build a new business line focused on recruiting sales and marketing talent across Southeast Asia’s burgeoning digital ecosystem. I partnered with regional unicorns and global scaleups expanding into the market, operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment that shaped my bias for urgency and execution.
