About

My position as an instructor requires me to use many different skill sets. In the class room I cannot simply get by with knowing the technology I teach. I must be a researcher, designer, manager, motivator, speaker, and more. It is a career that I find to be inspiring and rewarding to my soul. As an instructor in technology based degree plans I have honed my skills in research in order to both keep up with ever changing technologies and to always look for more productive ways to reach my student. To keep up with changing rules in web design, I volunteer to build web site for small companies. I must stay current on web design and graphic design software to insure these companies receive a modern web presence. For the classroom I in corporate activities use software based design tools such as, Camtashia and Soft Chalk. I also challenge myself to find new technologies to present information in the classroom. I am lead instructor for Programming Logic and Design. This requires me to be able to design course activities, labs, and assessments. I take grade pride in creating a course that is easy for students to follow along with. I designed the course in Moodle to be easy to read and follow. The course is complete with online lectures, assessments and labs. Being an instructor requires that you manage your classroom. I believe that a structure classroom with very clear rules gives the students the best chance for success. Rules and structure allow student to be accountable for them self. Part of managing the classroom requires me to be a motivator. Programming can be difficult for some students. I must watch for the early signs of struggle and be prepare to encourage students to persevere and give a little extra. Five years ago teaching was not something I thought much about. Teaching today is my way of life, my calling if you will. I am continuing my education to ensure that I will always get to touch someone’s life by teaching them for a better future.
