Birmingham, England, United Kingdom
Hello everyone! I'm a first year undergraduate student studying Engineering Geology and Geotechnics(Msci) at the University of Exeter, and am hoping to specialise in radiation protection after university. I'm quite the competitive applicant, being chosen for programmes such as Future Leaders UK, Sutton Trust US, The Royal Society of Chemistry-Windsor Fellowship programme, and a Fantasy Wings Programme for aviation to name a few. I love my community, so while I attend all these different programmes, I also volunteer as a retail assistant with the British Red Cross and occasionally volunteer for routine inspections at Sandwell Hospital, as part of their 15 steps programme and 'patients, people, population' movement. I believe everyone should have access to the aid and resources they need to get back on track, which is why volunteering plays such an important role in my life. I have partaken in six work experiences over the course of 3 years to try and find my feet, including 2 in asylum seeking with Fountain Solicitors, one as a teaching assistant for a local summer school, one shadowing medical professionals at Birmingham City Hospital, and 2 with AtkinsRéalis in which I was given the opportunity to test the waters of various different professions and solve real life problems. I am currently also involved in a few pathway programmes such as The Royce Hornby Pathway to Engineering and Technology at Aston, and Target Oxbridge Digital. These help develop skills in my given field of interest, as well as provide me with many tools and pathways into said profession, while also peaking my interest into STEM in general. I'm hoping to expand my horizon and network more by joining LinkedIn, so please don't be shy to give me a follow and message me!
Having the privilidge of working alongside leaders in various respective field in order to strengten my skills and network, as well as having the opportunity to advocate for the younger generation
Having the opportunity to learn about American higher education and getting the chance to visit competitive US colleges
Spent a week amongst the UK's leading engineers, who not only taught me on the fundamentals to their role, but challenged me with real life scenarios that they'd encounter within their respective roles, allowing me to develop my cognative and creative skills in order to find a solution
