• Implementing Transformative Outcome-Based Education (OBE) Meaningfully • Interdisciplinary Curriculum Design and Active Learning
A challenging assignment at a large unitary university (NAAC A+) with 30,000+ students and 1,000+ faculty members engaged in 250+ degree programs in many schools.
After growing and leading the very large CSE/IT department for many years at JIIT, it was very interesting to lead the engineering institute at a small university set up by one of the oldest corporate houses of the country, the JK group. The role required me to hire new faculty, create new partnerships with academia and industry, and lead the faculty to conceive new programs, update and transform the curriculum, orient all courses in all engineering departments towards outcome-based education, organise conferences, guest lectures, etc. During 2018-23, our team created a very innovative curriculum and followed progressive pedagogy and assessment approaches to promote inter-disciplnarity and deeper learning. In addition, I was the Director of university's IQAC and in this role, I led university's NAAC accreditation preperation that resulted in A grade in 2022. I was also chairman of the committees for doctoral studies and also the university's placements.
