Iselin, New Jersey, United States
I began working as a Law Clerk at Asher Gittler in November of my 2L year of law school. I was given the opportunity to write numerous post-hearing arbitration briefs on issues including wrongful termination, bargaining unit erosion (both through supervisor performance of bargaining unit work and subcontracting), and employers' unilateral alterations of the terms and conditions of employment. I also wrote numerous filings presented before several labor relations boards, including the Illinois Labor Relations Board, the Illinois Education Labor Relations Board, and Region 13 of the National Labor Relations Board. I wrote Board complaints and position statements, motions in limine, and post-hearing briefs. In addition to traditional labor law, I had the opportunity to work on several employment law cases as well. I composed federal court filings, including complaints and responsive pleadings, for litigation arising under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Fair Labor Standards Act. I also had the opportunity to research issues of state law and ERISA preemption, as well as state law employment issues under the Illinois Wage Payment and Collections Act.
