Colorado's Protection & Advocacy System and home to Colorado's Long-Term Care Ombudsman & Legal Assistance Developer for the Elderly Programs. - The Medicare-Medicaid Advocacy Program (MMA) was a 3-year grant funded demonstration program from the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Administration for Community Living (ACL). The Medicare-Medicaid Ombudsman Program was not extended past the demonstration period due to changing state priorities. - Responsibilities included client relations and referrals; technical training and support; program outreach and public relations; database management; regulatory and legislative policy research, monitoring, and advocacy. - Developed and maintained a statewide resources library for Medicare-Medicaid common issues. - Gained an in-depth knowledge and expertise in Medicare, Health First Colorado (Colorado's Medicaid program), and provider/client level interactions between the two programs. www.disabilitylawco.org

For the Volunteers of America-Colorado Branch I worked on the legislative research, bill tracking, and policy outreach for issues affecting VOA's programs and clientele over the 2015 Colorado legislative session. Working with the VOA Community Outreach and Advocacy Committee (COAC) and VOA partner organizations in the Denver area, we identified, tracked, and offered testimony on legislation relevant to VOA's clientele, concentrating on our mission of helping those most in need.
