As an International Displacement Specialist, I have developed and overseen projects related to human mobility and environmental challenges, international education, socioeconomic integration, cultural orientation for migrants and disaster risk management. With over five years of experience in this field, I have acquired experience in the field of international affairs as a United Nations project development officer, access to education advocate, humanitarian assistance expert and as a liaison for national and international organizations. My mission is to promote awareness and initiatives, both at the national and regional levels, in the fields of economic development, international education, humanitarian assistance and migration. I have partnered with local and international institutions to mitigate the impacts of climate change, support internally displaced populations and migrants, promote access to education, and facilitate adaptation and resilience strategies to local communities.
Ensure the consistent application of international and national law, as well as UNHCR, UN, and IASC policies, standards, and codes of conduct in all protection activities. Adhere to and promote protection-related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Provide functional and administrative support to age, gender, and diversity (AGD) sensitive programming, working closely with implementing and operational partners. Support the implementation of participatory approaches, needs assessments, monitoring, reporting, and case management to address the needs of persons of concern (PoC). Contribute to assessments of durable solutions, including voluntary repatriation, local integration, and, where appropriate, resettlement opportunities. Facilitate coordination with relevant authorities to support the issuance of personal and civil documentation for PoC. Draft reports, maintain databases, compile statistics, and prepare routine correspondence within the Area of Responsibility (AoR). Conduct preliminary interviews with PoC and determine relevant information to be shared to ensure appropriate follow-up. Promote integrity and accountability in the delivery of protection services, supporting the oversight of local implementing partners.
Support project reporting for international donors including the European Union, the Government of Japan, the Korea International Cooperation Agency - KOICA, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the U.S. Department of State, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation - AECID, the Government of Canada, among others. Explore and stablish connections with potential donors and stakeholders for projects centered on climate change and displacement, refugee integration, cash-based interventions, education development, disaster risk management, and emergency response. Develop comprehensive project proposals for international funding bodies such as KOICA, UN Peace Building Fund, and EU-ECHO. Monitor project and budget activities for initiatives nationwide. Gather and process data from branch and country offices, leading to the creation and dissemination of detailed operational reports for internal teams, regional and HQ bureaus, government counterparts, and donors. Update and oversee project tracking tools to identify and mitigate implementation risks for ongoing projects. Participate in coordination and implementation meetings with all departments to ensure seamless tracking of operations across the country.
Process identified resettlement cases from UNHCR´s partners (i.e. Encuentros and HIAS), upon reviewal in proGress. Perform need assessment actions to people of concern from Venezuela and other nationalities and submit them for resettlement consideration to Resettlement Reviewers. Schedule resettlement interviews for RST case workers, prior validation of proper documentation from the people of concern (i.e. migration card, national ID, birth certificate, refuge application, marriage certificate, among others). Translate legal documentation and reports into English and other administrative files prior the submission of resettlement cases to current resettlement countries (i.e. United States, Canada, and Finland) Guide or counsel resettlement cases to obtain pending or required documentation (i.e. migration card, refuge application, birth certificates, among others) according to the current Peruvian legislation. Perform confrontation interviews for resettlement cases that provided inconsistence information during the need assessment and scheduling phase, to prevent fraud during the resettlement process. Refer resettlement cases to protection officers for urgent aid if needed. Support Case Workers in administrative operations during and after the resettlement interview.
Lead and implemented projects related to international migration, socioeconomic integration, climate change and disaster risk management from key international donors (i.e., USAID, the U.S. Department of State, the Swiss Development Cooperation, the European Union, EU-ECHO, KOICA, JICA, CERF and the IOM Development Fund). Developed and monitored strategies to improve public health services and ensure safer transit in the context of the recent migration crisis across South America. Researched and analyzed data on migration trends and policies as well as their outcomes to provide insights and recommendations for IOM and other UN agencies operating within Peru, Ecuador, Chile and Brazil (UNHCR, OCHA, UNDP, UNICEF and WFP). Assessed the impact of migration policy on socioeconomic integration and drafted proposals to improve the actions of government counterparts (i.e., Peru’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Interior, and municipalities). Represented IOM at the National Humanitarian Network, providing updated information related to Humanitarian Assistance Engaged directly with local communities and stakeholders to encourage their active participation in project planning and implementationc of initiatives regarding climate change adaptation and disaster risk management in Peru. Designed and delivered training programs on migration, socioeconomic integration, climate change and disaster risk management for government officials, international cooperation organizations, local and migrant communities. Coordinated with international organizations and government entities to ensure effective collaboration on projects related to international migration, socioeconomic integration, climate change and humanitarian assistance. Searched and established alliances with new donors to provide future funding for projects related to humanitarian assistance, sustainable development, migration integration, climate change and disaster risk management

Worked with government officials to develop policies that aligned with national and local priorities in Peru. Collaborated with international education NGOs to exchange best practices and gather insights on education policy development in external countries. Identified emerging trends and best practices in education development policy and provide recommendations for integrating them into national policies. Analyzed the impact of active educational policies on marginalized communities and provided recommendations to improve equity and inclusion. Provided technical support and expertise in the development and implementation of gender and inclusive education policies at the national level. Monitored budgets allocated to institutions of higher education across Peru and provided recommendations for optimizing the allocation of funds to ensure maximum impact and efficiency in education policy implementation.
Assisted in the coordination and facilitation of study abroad programs designed for Global Studies students, which included managing application processes, communicating with partner institutions, and providing pre-departure orientations. Monitored and evaluated the effectiveness of the academic agendas and conferences organized by the Global Studies department, and provided recommendations for improvement based on the feedback received from both professors and students. Collaborated with faculty and staff to develop innovative educational programs that integrated real-world experiences with the Global Studies curriculum. Assisted in the coordination and organization of intercultural events and activities for Global Studies students, such as guest lectures, workshops and conferences. Organized and supported student-led initiatives and clubs that promoted intercultural awareness and engagement on and off campus.
