Sérgio Charruadas is a cybersecurity professional with a diverse and evolving background, currently working as a Training Developer at Hack The Box. With hands-on experience in offensive security, Sérgio transitioned from a decade-long career in hospitality into the cybersecurity field, bringing a strong customer-centric mindset and a unique perspective to technical problem-solving. At PwC Portugal and Altice, Sérgio worked as an Offensive Security Operator/Penetration Tester, where he did security consulting across multiple industries. His efforts directly supported enhancing clients’ security postures by identifying and providing recommendations regarding mitigations in various environments. Sérgio holds several respected certifications from GIAC, HTB, Offsec, PortSwigger and other industry-leading organizations. He has actively contributed to the cybersecurity community by participating in - and speaking at - Hack The Box meetups in Portugal, helping foster local engagement and learning. At Hack The Box, Sérgio leverages his technical background and passion for education to develop impactful, hands-on training content for a global audience. His commitment to continuous improvement, combined with a strong foundation in offensive security and a deep understanding of learner needs, helps shape training solutions that are both technically rigorous and accessible. Sérgio remains focused on helping others grow in the field, believing that the best way to learn is to give back to the community that helped shape him.
Upskill in Cyber is a fully funded training programme aimed at encouraging new talent into the cyber security sector by providing the necessary experience and training to embark on a successful security career. The Upskill in Cyber programme draws on SANS Institute's extensive experience in cyber security education and development, as well as the ongoing success of Academy programmes across the world in supporting the reskilling of individuals to transition into cyber security careers.
