I earned my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Boğaziçi University and I am a second-year Ph.D. student in Materials Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University. My research focuses on the high-throughput synthesis, characterization, and mechanical testing of novel refractory alloys for fusion applications, with an emphasis on linking processing, microstructure, and performance in extreme environments.
Synthesize refractory alloys through arc melting and spark plasma sintering (SPS). Conduct microstructural and phase characterization using SEM (BSE/EDS) and XRD. Evaluate mechanical behavior through compression, tension, fracture toughness, and hardness testing. Correlate processing, microstructure, and properties to advance fusion-relevant alloy development. Author manuscripts, reports, and technical presentations. Work closely with academic collaborators and national laboratory partners.
Served as an undergraduate research assistant under Dr. Asghar Aryanfar, supporting studies on the corrosion mechanics of metals. Performed literature reviews to consolidate prior findings and identify knowledge gaps. Assisted in the structural analysis of corroded layers and interpretation of experimental results. Contributed to the preparation and revision of research manuscripts.
• Worked on the structural design of sustainable aviation technologies, mainly turbine engines. • Engaged with structural analysis interpretation and contextualization. • Conducted stack-up tolerance analysis
• Learned about the working principles of turbine engines. • Inspected various traditional and non-traditional ultraprecise machining processes. • Acquired knowledge through illustrative examples of various nondestructive inspection methods. • Gained insight into advanced welding techniques, including electron beam and inertia friction welding.
• Learned fundamentals of GD&T. • Actively observed sheet metal cutting, forming, welding, deburring, surface treatment, heat treatment, assembly, and testing processes. • Performed various dimensional inspection methods using portable laser CMMs, borescopes, optical micrometers, and ultrasonic thickness gauges.
