I am a communicator for social change. I challenge power inequalities. My objective is to make visible how gender shapes our experience in life as individuals, communities, and societies. Since 2014, I have written over 15 articles talking about personal reflections on masculinity and manhood, stories on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and inviting readers to challenge harmful, outdated gender roles and norms. As Words in the Bucket, I believe in raising awareness, informing people, letting them participate and share their opinions as a fundamental basis for change.
• Provided in-depth technical advice on how to incorporate purposefully rural men in an innovative program aiming to empower economically women in rural areas of Guatemala. Project: Women in Small Enterprise (WISE). • Develop approaches and activities for developing a toolkit on how to empower men and engage women in discussing gender issues such as household chores, caregiving, and decision-making processes.
• Seasoned experience working successfully in diplomatic and political engagement in highly volatile contexts with high levels of uncertainty. • Managed teams of observers, led international teams, and served as international observer in 20 elections in Costa Rica (4), Haiti (2), El Salvador (2), Paraguay (2), Mexico, Honduras, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, St. Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador.
• Managed and implemented projects providing technical cooperation to Board of Elections in Guatemala, Bolivia and Argentina aiming to protect citizen’s right to vote in upcoming elections. • Led new business development strategy by designing DECO’s main multi-year program, composed by 14 new projects, based on data analysis and needs-based assessments performed. • Wrote proposals, projects, reports and presentations regarding OAS technical cooperation work.
• Co-authored a working paper on women’s political participation, gender, and political financing. • Contributed to the publication and implementation in three countries of the Manual on incorporating a Gender perspective into Electoral Observation Missions deployed by the OAS. • Served as Gender Expert for EOMs deployed in Antigua and Barbuda, Paraguay and Peru. • Produced technical reports, briefs, and presentations with political assertiveness on the current state of political and electoral campaign financing in the Americas. • Served as Political Financing Expert for EOMs deployed in Nicaragua, Ecuador, and Honduras. • Coordinated a team of 30+ on technical, administrative, logistical, and operational matters for the EOM deployed in Costa Rica for presidential elections in 2014.
