During my five years on the BITKOM board, I was able to fully embrace my passion for emerging technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Extended Reality (XR) while driving their adoption and development in Germany. My focus was on inspiring both companies and individuals to recognize the immense potential of these technologies and equipping them to use them effectively. A key aspect of my work was building a strong network of technology providers, thought leaders, and users. This network served as a platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences, fostering the acceptance of AR, VR, and XR across various industries. Collaboration and dialogue are essential for not only understanding these technologies but also for implementing them in meaningful ways. Through speeches, panel discussions, and committee work, I regularly demonstrated how immersive technologies can create competitive advantages – whether in manufacturing, healthcare, education, or customer service. My efforts extended beyond showcasing technical capabilities to exploring economic opportunities and addressing the broader societal impacts of these innovations. Another priority of my role was engaging with policymakers and business leaders to create favorable conditions for the development and application of these technologies in Germany. Strengthening Germany’s position as a hub for innovation and ensuring AR, VR, and XR became integral to the digital transformation were central to my mission.
