During medical school in Leiden, the Netherlands, I got interested in orthopedic surgery. I followed my residency program from November 2005 to April 2012 in Delft and Rotterdam. During my residence years I created a passion for the field of hand and wrist surgery. To turn this interest into knowledge and skills I followed a fellowship year hand-wrist surgery at the University Hospitals in Leuven, Belgium under the supervision of professor de Smet and professor Degreef. Currently I work as a FESSH certified hand-wrist surgeon at the Heilig Hart Hospital in Leuven. I also work as consultant hand-wrist surgery at the University Hospital Leuven for traumacare. My special interests are the full scope of surgery of the hand, wrist, lower arm and elbow including trauma, arthroscopy and microsurgery. Besides my interest in hand surgery I'm also engaged in hospital management in the Heilig Hart Hospital Leuven and am appointed 'Head of department for surgical disciplines', co head of surgery word, chairman of the outpatient clinic commitee, member of the medical council and member of the communication think tank.
