I am a journalist currently working as a reporter for the Peterborough Examiner in Peterborough, Ontario. My writing and reporting across all publications and formats focuses on all levels of politics, post-secondary education and the local arts community in Nogojiwanong-Peterborough. My work has been syndicated in publications across Canada and has led to me being a guest contributor and analyst on CBC Radio. I previously served as editor of Arthur Newspaper in Peterborough from 2022 to 2024 during which time I was part of an editorial team that won the 2024 John H. McDonald Award for Best Online Media Presence. A co-written article on Trent University's stalled efforts to build a green technology research and innovation park called Cleantech Commons was a finalist for the Canadian University Press award for Feature Writing in 2025. My 2023 feature article on the Peterborough Museum and Archives exhibit "To Honour and Respect" earned recognition as a finalist for the 2023 Student Award of Excellence from the Canadian Association of Journalists. Outside of work, I am a musician who contributes to numerous local bands and projects in my community and have been a volunteer member of various boards and committees for cultural institutions. In 2024, I received the City of Peterborough's Civic Award for Cultural Betterment in recognition of my commitment and contributions to local arts and culture initiatives.
Currently serving as the city hall and politics reporter for the Peterborough Examiner. I previously served as a general assignment reporter covering local politics, events, and breaking news in Peterborough, Ontario and surrounding communities as a Local Journalism Initiative-funded journalist before being hired on permanently in October 2025. My byline has appeared in associated Torstar publications, including the Toronto Star, Hamilton Spectator, Waterloo Region Record, Niagara Falls Review, Welland Tribune and St. Catharines Standard.
I have been a freelance writer for a variety of publications. My work has also been featured on CBC's Ontario Morning where I've been invited to provide commentary on prominent news stories in Peterborough. Furthermore, I was a frequent contributor to the Canadian music publication DOMINIONATED where I wrote reviews, interviews, and features, including coverage of the 2022 Polaris Music Prize.
Elected to oversee the mobilization of student academic workers as members of CUPE 3908 and aid in the mediation of any grievances which arose with Trent University as the employer.
Twice elected to represent graduate student workers at Trent University by overseeing the handling and processing of all grievances undertaken by the Local and enforcing the Collective Agreement.
As Editor-in-Chief, I oversaw the paper's day-to-day operations, including setting editorial direction, assigning stories, and managing a team of editors and writers. In addition to editorial duties, I was responsible for the paper's fiscal management through drafting and implementing an annual budget, paying business and payroll taxes, running payroll, and reporting to the paper's Board of Directors. I also managed the paper's advertising strategy and served as the primary point of contact for clients. As Arthur's primary City Hall and Trent Board of Governors reporter, I worked alongside my colleagues to increase the consistency of Arthur's coverage of these bodies.
Co-Editor of Trent University’s independent student and community newspaper. In addition to establishing myself as a presence in covering municipal politics in Peterborough, I managed and assigned stories to a team of 12 staff writers, and aided in the editorial process through timely edits, fact checks, and re-writes.
Most recently the co-host of the auditory experience "NOISEHOLE" with David King. I previously wrote and produced a weekly radio show called "Great Canadian Covers" which was a weekly deep dive into the work of Canadian musicians and the many covers and artists that they have inspired.
