I'm a civil/structural engineer with over 10 years’ experience in the design and delivery of medium and large projects. I have delivered solutions at every stage of the engineering/ construction process. I have experience in a variety of sectors, including infrastructure for mining, telecommunications, oil & gas, port facilities, rail facilities, sport facilities, educational facilities, along with projects in the commercial, residential and industrial sectors. I have worked for consultancies and contractors, and on private and public sectors projects, with the experience of managing projects from tender stage through to completion. I have extensive experience using computer modelling for structural analysis, design and drafting, along with checking and designing to Irish, British, Eurocode and Australian standards (concrete, steel, masonry, timber, composite). Career Objective I want to work with a company delivering infrastructure/projects, using smart and innovative design solutions mixed with as much value engineering and common sense as possible. In the near term I would like to gain engineering chartership whilst in a position that will allow me to further develop my career.       ~~ Project management of the SMP construction at BOC Gas’ new Air Separation Unit (ASU) at Mason Road, Kwinana Beach, WA. 0 LTI were recorded on this project. ~~ Responsible for the technical and commercial execution of the project with the O&G GM. Lead a project team consisting of project engineers, a contract administrator, a planner/scheduler, construction superintendent and supervisor. Commercial management of the contract, the scope of work, the schedule, cost and time variations, subcontractor agreements, dashboard reports, forecasting/risk identification, estimating, progress claiming and invoicing. Preparation of contract extension of time and prolongation claims. ~~ Technically responsible for constructing the new ASU which included a heavy lifting campaign using SPMTs and dual crawler crane lifts (350T crawlers) to install 80tonne ‘cold box' towers and tanks, along with associated ground improvement works. Management of the installation and construction of buildings, turbines, compressors, transformers. Management of fabrication off-site and on-site for carbon piping, stainless steel piping and exotic pressure piping (cryogenic aluminium) to ASME B31.1, B31.3 and various ASTM material standards. Management of chemical cleaning of piping, mechanical alignments, pneumatic and hydro pressure testing, NDT testing and radio-graphic 'bombing', surface treatment, insulation and cladding of piping, pressure vessels and large storage tanks. ~~ Preparation of project documentation, the execution plan, TQs, weld procedures, ITPs, weekly progress reports and a project MDR with the project engineers. ~~ Attendance of weekly client progress and contractor interface planning meetings. ~~ Management of labour resourcing, HR/IR issues, project procurement, sub-contracting, testing, hand-over and sign-off.

       o I was responsible for the design and site supervision of the Redevelopment of the Physical Education and Sports Science Building (PESS), University of Limerick. €8 million o The project included demolishing an existing swimming pool building and constructing a new building including lecture theatres, classrooms, offices, a sports hall, café restaurant and administrative / meeting facilities, whilst adjoining two existing live structures. o The structural scheme included concrete, steel, masonry and composite design elements. Sustainability was a factor in this project where existing structure and materials were reused in the redevelopment. The civil scheme included the design of foul and stormwater drainage. o I produced and developed the civil & structural project designs, the design stage H&S and environmental risk assessments, from scheme stage through to tender and construction stages. I supervised the fabricators and contractors during construction.  o I was responsible for the structural design of Ard Scoil Ris' - School Development. €10million. o The project includes an extensive extension to the existing 700 pupil secondary boys school providing 3 new blocks consisting of 16 new classrooms, 5 specialist/science classrooms, a library, a canteen, a sports hall and sports facilities along with refurbishment works to the existing school buildings. o I produced the project’s civil & structural detailed designs and specifications, and attended site to supervise the construction and project progress for the client.

       I worked as a design site representative with the Arup DSR group, supervising the project construction works of the Railway Procurement Agency’s - LUAS Light Rail B1 Extension, Dublin. €84 million. o The development which opened to the public in autumn 2010 consists of 7.5km of new light rail from Sandyford to Cherrywood in South County Dublin, with 9 new stops. The project includes bridge structures, large civil works, platforms, and an extension to the Sandyford train depot.

       o I carried out structural designs for the University of Limerick Sports Pavilion project. o The development consisted of a sports facility consisting of a 1,810m2 pavilion building on two levels with floodlit sports pitches. The pavilion building consists of 10 changing rooms, café restaurant and administrative / meeting facilities.  o I was responsible for the design checking of the Arup Structural designs for the Aldi Distribution Centre, Mitchelstown, Cork. o The development consisted of a circa 280m x 205m distribution warehouse development servicing southern Ireland, with long span portalised steel superstructures.  o I carried out concrete, steel, masonry and timber structural designs and site supervision works for the University of Limerick Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. €10 million. o The client held an international design competition for this interesting project, which was won by leading French Architect Daniel Cordier. The building of approx. 4,850m2 consists of two theatres, dance studios, atrium/exhibition areas, lecture theatres, classrooms, offices, café restaurant and admin. facilities.  o I carried out structural designs and site supervision of clean room, gantry, crane and conveyor projects for numerous manufacturing facilities & data centres.

      Resident Engineer o I was the resident site engineer for Vilicom’s national infrastructure roll out programme of the Tetra mobile communications network, a dedicated new mobile network to serve the Irish police and emergency response services. o I supervised and directed four approved contractors nationwide, where I carried out construction inspections, certification of works and hand over >150 cellular base station sites.
