  • Debenhams (6 yrs 10 mos)
    • Senior Wedding Gift/Click & Collect Service Adviser
      Sep 2011 - Jun 2015 · 3 yrs 10 mos

As Senior Sales Advisor, I performed many duties related to a supervisor with a view to taking on that role permanently in the long term as part of one of the UK's leading Department Stores, overseeing a small team within the Wedding Gift Service, Click & Collect and Order Fulfilment/Endless Aisle departments. This also involved working closely with, and providing cover for colleagues of our Travel Money bureau and Home department. As part of the Wedding Gift Service I worked to assist customers in the set up of gift lists for weddings, civil partnerships and many other events. Behind the scenes, the role involves sourcing products, arranging events instore and externally, ensuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met and exceeded and promoting the service through links with outside organisations. The constantly evolving and rapidly expanding Click & Collect service in store is an exciting new area to be involved in. This infant service is blending e-commerce with the high street store environment and providing the highest levels of customer service and convenience through the application of Service Level Agreements and KPIs as well as providing for new order channels to further boost the customer experience.

    • Menswear Sales Adviser
      Oct 2009 - Sep 2011 · 2 yrs

This role was diverse and varied and turned out to be extremely useful to me as a learning experience. Through this, I grew more confident with my abilities, particularly with regards to teamwork, people skills, time management and organisational skills in a fast paced environment. I was lucky to be part of a fantastic team, without whom I would not have had the great experience that I did nor would I have gained so much.

  • Disabled Students' Officer, Heriot-Watt University Students Union (HWUSU) at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh
    Oct 2008 - Jun 2011 · 2 yrs 9 mos

A voluntary post through which I met some amazing individuals and took part in some fantastic events, whilst representing the needs and being the voice of disabled students at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. This role involved ensuring my visibility to the students on campus if they needed my assistance either via social media (creating the roles first dedicated Facebook group) or my physical presence. If I couldn't help them directly, I was able to confidently point them in the right direction to others who could help or who were simply better qualified to do so. As a result an excellent relationship with the student support services at the university was fostered which in turn made representing students far easier with an easy and open dialogue and benefits for both students and the university.
