Global Banking & Markets, Fixed Income Origination & Derivatives The Bank of Nova Scotia, operating as Scotiabank, is a Canadian multinational banking and financial services company founded in 1832. The Global Banking and Markets division in Asia is part of the firm’s FX, Rates, Capital Markets and Local Market product offering to the institutional and corporate clients of Scotiabank. In this role, I managed three direct reports and led the Corporate Derivatives Sales team for Asia-Pacific. Primary markets of focus included Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong and India. The mandate focused on advising C-Suite and Treasuries on managing financial market volatility associated with interest rate and foreign exchange risk. Played an important role within the Debt Capital Markets team, tasked with both identifying opportunities and providing support to clients in issuing debt instruments across a range of markets including 144a, Maple, US Private Placements and European debt markets. Customer-centric and consultative sales approach examples: * Advised and executed structured swaps to improve financial metrics via overlay structures for a number of transmission and distribution electricity companies in Australia. * Enabled value to be released associated with funding and credit market volatility by restructuring numerous hedge books for REIT’s based in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia. * Pitched and awarded swap arranger mandates for clients in the telco, real estate, infrastructure, energy and consumer sectors associated with EUR, USD, CAD, NOK, CHF and HKD debt issuance. * Initiated and led product innovation for the bank including the first ESG linked swap for a Singapore property firm, the first 10yr+ FX translation hedge for a Hong Kong based infrastructure fund, and the first Japanese private placement for a Singapore corporate.
Global Markets Division National Australia Bank’s Corporate and Institutional business in Asia supports investment and business across the region offering DCM and corporate finance solutions, FICC derivatives, trade and transactional services. Was a key relationship manager and producer, overseeing a team of four professionals in Hong Kong and Singapore.
