Fresh out grad school learning about structural engineering principles at Simpson Gumpertz & Heger (SGH) in the greater Boston area. Always on the lookout for great new adventures and new ways to challenge myself.
● Explained ideas and concepts to students in a beginning level engineering course ● Instructed students on proper usage of surveying equipment when performing outdoor exercises ● Graded homework submissions from students
● Explained ideas and concepts to students in an intermediate level engineering course ● Instructed students on proper lab procedure when performing experiments ● Constructed and programmed online homework questions relevant to the subject ● Proctored Midterm and Final Exams for the course.
• Learned how to design components of metal buildings and got a better idea of what structural design entails. • Developed my communication skills by speaking with customers to clarify special notes and requests in order documents. • Familiarized myself with software and building codes associated with pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB).
• Utilized STAAD finite element analysis and existing excel macros to analyze and develop a pipe pile standard as an alternate deep foundation type to the current H-Pile standard. • Spent a month gaining field experience with separate bridge inspection, construction, and maintenance crews in the Southwestern area of the United States. • Learned how to successfully navigate communication in both design and field environments.
