I was responsible for a £27m programme to deliver a highly advanced metal additive manufacturing solution to the aerospace industry. This was the highest value programme within the company and was also dependent on the output from external Stakeholders. This project involved dealing with difficult stakeholders in a dynamic programme environment. Additive manufacturing was a relatively new technology to Renishaw so as part of this role, I oversaw an infrastructure project to build the manufacturing and testing facility to enable the prototyping of a next generation additive manufacturing machine. This encompassed several aspects of infrastructure management such as contractor management, risk assessments, building regulations, oxygen depletion monitoring systems, Argon gas supply and safety systems and a custom air conditioning system to comply with the mitigation of a health and safety risk. I was responsible for delivery to the Director of the Additive Manufacturing Division for the project management of a multi-disciplinary system which includes assessing risk and applying health and safety standards to the Additive Manufacturing System Programme. I was responsible for delivery to Senior Stakeholders for the delegation and tracking of progress with respect to project milestones and project expenditure. I was responsible for the project management of a technically challenging system which includes the qualification and acquisition of project resources and procurement. I was responsible for co-ordinating stakeholder inputs for the system design, development and testing of an innovative Additive Manufacturing System. I also assisted in the development, review and roll out of departmental System Engineering Procedures.
I was responsible for initiating a project to produce a solution to a significant health and safety threat on Renishaw’s flagship RenAM500M machine. During this time I was responsible for creating the project mandate, creating a detailed project management plan and timeline with resource profile and cost breakdown. The project was run across 3 different sites which meant that I needed to maintain clear lines of communication to ensure that all team members knew their responsibilities and timescales. I was also responsible for the exhibition of this product at one of the biggest additive manufacturing trade shows in Europe – FormNext. For this event, there was an irremovable deadline which was a good opportunity for me to exploit my skill set. The exhibition was a success and the project was successfully handed over to the relevant implementation teams.
